Whether you are a beginner in kitesurfing or an experienced practitioner, you will find a supportive community at Kite Doctors.
Can I join by myself?
Alone
Many of our participants choose to attend a Kite Doctors conference solo, and it's perfectly normal and not intimidating at all. In fact, most attendees come alone and find it to be a rewarding experience, as it allows them to meet new colleagues and form valuable connections with fellow medical professionals who share a passion for kitesurfing.
Colleague
However, we also encourage bringing a colleague or friend doctor along. Not only does this provide the comfort of a familiar face, but it also offers a practical benefit: you can share a hotel room and enjoy a more favourable rate for your participation. This option makes the experience more affordable and adds to the enjoyment of the event, as you can share the learning and leisure activities with someone you know.
Can I bring my spouse/partner?
Unfortunately, the congress itself is exclusively for medical professionals. Our courses are specifically tailored to create an environment where all participants share similar professional backgrounds, which strengthens the group dynamic and fosters meaningful connections. Including non-medical partners in the sessions may hinder this professional focus, as they may not fully integrate into the group or benefit from the medical discussions and activities.
That said, we warmly welcome your partner to join you either before or after the conference. Extending your stay together would be a perfect way to enjoy some personal time in the beautiful surroundings of our locations, complementing your professional development with relaxation and adventure.
How can I register for the conference event?
Registration can be completed through our secure online platform. Once your registration and payment are confirmed, your spot is secured. For registrations made more than a year in advance, a 10% deposit is required, while full payment is due for all other registrations. Please review our cancellation policy outlined in our terms and conditions.
What is included in the conference fee?
The course fee includes everything you need for a seamless and enjoyable experience: the conference itself, accommodation, meals, drinks, expert guidance, party and transfers. Essentially, everything is taken care of except for your flight to and from the event location. Depending on the event, certain activities are offered as optional add-ons, such as kite lessons, equipment rental, specialized clinics, yoga sessions, and mountain biking. This comprehensive package allows you to focus fully on learning, relaxation, and adventure without any worries.
What should I bring to the conference event?
Our conferences are designed with your convenience in mind, so you can focus entirely on your experience. If you prefer, you can travel with just your carry-on luggage. We generally offer the option to rent kitesurfing equipment, but many participants choose to bring their own gear. If you have booked kitesurfing lessons, all the necessary equipment will be provided. Before each event, we will send you detailed information about the conference, including what you should bring. In general, you only need to bring your personal items and suitable clothing for both educational sessions and sport/beach activities.
Is the conference event considered as a business expense?
Our conferences are structured so that no participant has to pay the full cost out of pocket. Some attendees can cover the fees using a professional development budget from their workplace, while others can claim the expenses as business costs. So yes, our conferences are considered business expenses. All costs are itemized on a single invoice, making it straightforward for tax deduction purposes.

The sport has connected him with other passionate colleagues and has formed and deepened friendships. He can most often be found at IJmuiden, Wijk aan Zee, or Bergen aan Zee and has visited many spots on multiple continents."
John van Stolk - Initiator and Organizer of Kite Doctors
Kite Doctors was developed by John van Stolk and was born from the idea that people who enjoy what they do achieve better results. John, trained as a lawyer, made his mark in the corporate events industry both in the Netherlands and abroad, where he observed that success was primarily achieved in pleasant networking environments.
In his free time, John already organized trips related to his great passion: kitesurfing. This started as trips for friends and soon evolved into annual kitesurfing events for larger groups. Within these groups, there were also general practitioners and specialists, and the question quickly arose: how can we combine our shared passion for kitesurfing with our work as doctors?
Kite Doctors offers various multi-day (international) events combined with accredited continuing medical education (CME). Kite Doctors always seeks the ideal mix of relevant and current content, sport activities and networking.
Kite Doctors collaborates with IKO-certified kitesurfing schools to ensure there are good and safe lesson opportunities and options to rent quality kitesurfing equipment during the continuing education activities. In addition to kitesurfing lessons, Kite Doctors sometimes offers other activities such as surfing, mountain biking, and yoga
